Living Your Loving Intention
Reiki is a spiritual healing practice that involves the "Laying on of Hands". It was founded by Dr. Makao Usui in the mid 1800's.
Dr. Usui was a Japanese scholar and philosopher who was searching for the ancient healing system used by Christ, the Buddha, and all the great ancient healers.
During his quest, he psychically rediscovered this ancient healing modality. He was given symbols, their meanings and attunement to access this ancient healing system. He went on to teach and to practice this newly re-awakened form of spiritual healing for the rest of his life.
He called it "Reiki". Rei means "universal" and Ki means "life force" in Japanese. The healing system remains universal.
Prior to his death, Dr. Usui formulated five spiritual precepts all Reiki practitioners live by.
Five Spiritual Precepts
Just for today, I will not anger.
Just for today, I will not worry.
Just for today, I will give thanks for my many blessings.
Just for today, I will do my work honestly.
Just for today, I will be kind to all living things.
Whether or not you choose to study Reiki formally, these precepts provide a solid foundation for raising our vibration of thought, and consequently...our experience of living in the world.
In Reiki healing, energy is channeled from the Universal Source; it enters the Reiki practitioner through the crown chakra and into the receiver by way of the practitioner's hands.
Reiki training is done by giving symbols, along with a series of attunements in a progression of levels l, ll, and lll (master and trainers).
In Reiki l, primarily a self-healing modality, the student is given an attunement which opens the crown chakra and symbolically gives permission for the life force energy to enter the body.
Reiki ll gives the student another attunement which increases the flow of energy to the hands, as well as giving symbols which allow healing of others in addition to distance healing.
Reiki lll includes two more symbols and teaches the methods of passing on the attunements. Reiki Masters accept the responsibility of training others to become practitioners and masters.
Universal Energy doesn't, however, discriminate as to the qualifications of the person requesting to channel it. It is, as its name implies - universally accessible.
Loving intention and dedicated attention to caring for others will naturally beckon this energy to assist in the healing process.
Each and every one of us has the ability to heal ourselves and each other. We do this every day, be it through a smile, a nod of encouragement, or a warm embrace.
A loving demeanor and spirituality play a major role in achieving a state that is receptive to channeling universal energy. Reiki Certification, however, can enhance and amplify the channeler's receptiveness to this universal energy. Most communities around the globe offer Reiki classes - many great books are also available through Amazon... here is one that I can recommend:
The Consciousness of Water
To demonstrate the effectiveness of using a loving consciousness such as that of Reiki spiritual healing, or even the the simple technique of holding thoughts of love and gratitude in our daily interactions, let's refer to the work of Professor Masaru Emoto of Japan.
Not only do his studies have remarkable implications for the abiliity of a loving consciousness to change the molecular structure of water, but imagine the implications of applying this concept of holding compassionate and loving thoughts toward both ourselves and each other....

Professor Emoto's work is a wonderful example of the concept of energy following thought.

Consciousness affects our physical reality by shifting our energy... and in turn, working with the subtle energy systems supports our ability to hold a higher consciousness of thought.
Holding a higher vibration of thought has a direct impact on the composite molecular structure of the fluid content of our bodies!
This concept is also clearly demonstrated by the words of Dr. Wayne Dyer.
"When we change the way we look at things, the things we look at change."
"The Power of Intention" - Dr. Wayne Dyer
Higher consciousness begins with intention and connection...
We are one... one love. One human family.
